A new Airbus A350-1000 landed in Hanoi for the first time for a demonstration flight and ground display on February 2 as a part of a three-week Demonstration Tour in the Asia-Pacific region.

This is the most modern and largest aircraft in the A350 family of Airbus, newer than the ten A350-900 aircraft operated by Vietnam Airlines.

The A350-1000 is Airbus’s latest and largest wide-body aircraft in the twin-aisle category. With a seven-meter longer fuselage, space for premium cabin products is 40 per cent larger than its smaller sibling the A350-900.

It can accommodate 366 passengers in a typical three-class configuration, featuring 18-inch-wide Comfort Economy class seats. It is a truly long-range aircraft, with a range of 14,800 km at entry into service, enabling non-stop services from Hanoi to Europe or North America.

Featuring a spacious and remarkably quiet cabin, the A350-1000 brings a new level of comfort and ambiance with the most modern entertainment services available in the air.

The A350-1000 features a modified wing trailing-edge, new six-wheel main landing gear, and more powerful Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines. It brings together the very latest in aerodynamics, design, and advanced technologies for a 25 per cent step-change in operating costs compared to previous generation competitor aircraft.

It will have a capacity of 308 tonnes, or 275 tonnes higher than the A350-900s Vietnam Airlines is operating. The number of seats increases by 40, making it more economical.

“We are considering buying this aircraft to operate flights from Vietnam to the US in the coming time,” said Mr. Dang Ngoc Hoa, Deputy CEO of Vietnam Airlines.

The A350 XWB Family has been especially successful in the Asia-Pacific region, where 14 major airlines have ordered a total of 287 aircraft, representing one-third of the 854 orders recorded so far worldwide.

Carriers from the region already flying the A350-900 on long-haul operations include Asiana Airlines, Cathay Pacific Airways, China Airlines, Hong Kong Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways International, and Vietnam Airlines.
